BUT WHY INSTALL HIGH PERFORMANCE SPARK PLUGS?
NGK high performance racing spark plugs are so-called cold spark plugs. They are most often intended for very high engine preparation (engine with a twin-turbo turbo or compressor kit, modification of engine injection and ignition times, high efficiency, high engine compression ratio, etc.).
NGK high-performance Iridium spark plugs represent the most advanced technical solution on the market. They feature an ultra-thin Iridium tip on the central electrode, this tip is laser welded using a special NGK process.
NGK competition spark plugs are spark plugs which can provide great flexibility to your engine and thus be able to claim much faster revs.
What is the real use of iridium:
- - Iridium allows the central electrode to be reduced to a very fine tip of 0.6 mm in diameter / optimization of flame propagation.
- - Iridium helps reduce the voltage needed for ignition.
- - Iridium helps improve ignition in the combustion chamber and therefore makes starting easier.
- - Iridium allows for a much lower required voltage.
- - Iridium can reduce fuel consumption by up to 5%.
- - Iridium allows for better responsiveness of your engine (up to 0.7 seconds gained from 0 to 100 km/h).
- - Iridium provides an anti-corrosion and anti-seizing exterior treatment.
- - Iridium allows the reduction of polluting emissions.
- - Iridium allows for a more stable engine idle and therefore a reduction in vibrations.
- - Iridium allows you to benefit from “2 steps” technology: this technology prevents fouling of the insulation using an electric arc cleaning process.
Note that Iridium is actually a precious metal and is one of the strongest materials in our current world. Its melting point starts at 2450°C and therefore makes it an ultra-resistant metal, particularly against electrical erosion created by the spark of the candle.
NGK predicts that the life of an Iridium spark plug is 2.5 times that of a so-called standard spark plug.
