Here is our Cat Cams adjustable camshaft pulleys RENAULT 1.6 8v naturally aspirated K7M engine
Description :
Cat Cams camshaft pulleys are used to offset the opening and closing of the valves according to your engine's parameters.
They are anodized and made of high quality aluminum.
WHAT IS A CAMSHAFT PULLEY USED FOR? Also called a Vernier Pulley
The "camshaft pulley" also called "vernier pulley" or "camshaft sprocket" is an essential part of your engine's timing system. Indeed, its role is to transmit the movement of the crankshaft through the timing belt (or timing chain) to your camshaft, thus allowing you to control the opening and closing of your intake and exhaust valves.
Finally, its operating role is to adjust your timing of your distribution as best as possible.
By fine-tuning your timing adjustment, this vernier pulley makes maximum efficiency and mechanical performance possible.
Generally, in order to make the Cat Cams pulleys more resistant, they are treated by hard anodizing in order to obtain a better longevity over time.
WHEN TO REPLACE A VERNIER PULLEY?
A camshaft pulley or Vernier pulley is a highly stressed part that is subject to enormous mechanical stress during intense sports use or in motor racing, so its teeth tend to wear over time. You should therefore remember to check the wear of your pulley when changing your timing belt or chain.
Here are some signs of ACC pulley wear :
- an abnormal engine noise
- malfunctioning valves (significant noise)
- low engine power
- engine malfunction (including jerking at low revs)
