  • Why are there so many holes in a drilled disc?

The number of holes in a disc is determined by engineering. Zimmermann has done extensive calculations and testing regarding the number of holes, their size, positioning and chamfer. This attention to detail is really what separates Brembo from its competitors in the world of braking. The number of holes in a disc is partly a function of disc size and internal ventilation with vented discs.
  • Why use a drilled or grooved disc?

Drilling or grooving helps discs in different aspects:
The edges of the grooves or holes continuously clean and ventilate the surface of the pads, while providing improved bite. In addition, they prevent the formation of gas between disc and pad. The disc is thus also lightened, reducing its rotational inertia.
  • What are the advantages of drilled and grooved discs?

The main advantages of slotted and drilled discs are the same: increase braking bite, and improve cooling of the disc-pad contact surface. Drilled discs have the advantage of being lighter and better cooling the surface. However, pad materials that are too aggressive are not compatible with cross-drilled rotors. For use on the circuit, we recommend the use of grooved discs.

Zimmermann is the only German manufacturer to offer such a wide range of more than 320 different references, which are provided with an "ABE" signifying the general approval license granted by the Federal Automobile Agency.

Note that for all sports version brake discs, provided with an “ABE” label from the German “TÜV Nord” technical control, numerous driving tests were carried out on the Hockenheim circuit.
