Lightweight flywheel for Volkswagen Golf 4 / Audi A3 8L / TT 8N / 1.8 Turbo 20VT 2WD 5-speed gearbox 02J
Here is our 4.1 kg STR Performance lightweight flywheel for Volkswagen Golf 4 / Audi A3 8L / TT 8N / 1.8 Turbo 20VT 2 wheel drive 5-speed gearbox 02J 02A 228mm
This lightweight and reinforced High Performance flywheel from STR Performance , significantly optimizes engine revolutions as well as the distribution of weight between the front and rear of the crankshaft in terms of inertia on Volkswagen Golf 4 / Audi engines A3 8L / TT 8N / 1.8 Turbo 20VT 2 wheel drive 5-speed gearbox 02J 02A 228mm
Only compatible for 1.8T 20VT engine transverse engine (not compatible audi A4 B5, A6) 5-speed gearbox 02A 02J clutch 228mm
Benefits of our lightweight single-mass flywheel:
- our steering wheel weighs only 4.6 kg, the original steering wheel 9 kg
- all our flywheels are made of chrome molybdenum steel G 1.75, extremely suitable for high speed engines
- homologated without limitation of CV
- significantly improved acceleration due to less flywheel mass
- the engine revs up faster, no loss of performance.
- suitable for motorsport and production vehicles
- less fuel consumption
- reduces response lag typical of turbo engines
- precision balancing, bearings are less affected, fine balanced according to DIN ISO 1940
- including starter crown
- compatible with both a standard clutch and a high performance clutch
- made in germany
- integrated release crown
Here are the assembly instructions:
Preparation :
The friction surface of the flywheel, the threads of the crankshaft, the crankshaft screws (only if these do not have a threadlocker) and the clutch screws must be cleaned of grease, dirt and grease. dust with a cleaner (e.g. brake cleaner), otherwise the clutch may slip after installation.
Screws with thread lock must be used with "medium strength" loctite.
Flywheel screws:
- Make sure they are screwed tightly into the thread.
- First tighten by hand then tighten evenly "crosswise" to 116Nm with a torque wrench.
- (1st pass about 65 Nm - 2nd pass 116 Nm)
- The friction surfaces (organic and sintered) are equipped with a "spring cage".
- In order not to impair the operation of the clutch, the friction disc must be fitted with the side of the spring cage facing the flywheel.
- The friction disc is centered on the flywheel using a centering mandrel (not supplied).
- Then the pressure plate is pressed onto the flywheel spindles and screwed on.
- It is important to ensure that the friction disc is centered if no centering mandrel is available for mounting.
- Screw the pressure plate with the cleaned screws
