This is our FORGE MOTORSPORT Direct Intake Kit for the 1.0 TSI engine from 2017 to late 2021 which is found in a wide selection of vehicles from the VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat range. With the very successful FMINDK30 and FMINDK39 intake kits for the previous generation VAG 1.0 TSI vehicles, Forge Motorsport were heavily asked to develop an improved air intake system for the latest VAG powertrain.
As with all manufacturers in recent times, the need to make smaller displacement engines more powerful and efficient has been their top priority. To achieve these goals, OEM design engineers need to maximise space to the maximum, which in turn creates a greater challenge for manufacturers and aftermarket tuners to improve what is already fitted to the vehicle. However, this hasn’t stopped us at Forge Motorsport! Even with a wealth of expertise from previous developments with smaller displacement VAG engines, this new powertrain has required an extensive testing period to ensure we produce a product that offers real improvements over the standard airbox.
The CAD designed, laser cut and precision bent heat shield is designed to form a barrier between the air intake duct and the radiant heat of the engine. It also helps channel cold air to the air filter, helping to maintain low intake temperatures, which in turn creates more power. Finished with our textured black powder coat, this creates a product with an OEM look and quality. This kit is offered with our Forge high flow pleated synthetic nanofiber filtration filter, which has been manufactured to an optimum size and fit for the available space, providing superior flow and filtration with improved breathing for the 1.0 turbocharged engine.
Alternatively there is our soon to be available foam filter option which has been manufactured exclusively by Pipercross. During dyno testing we tried several filter options and found that no filter excelled over the other with results being almost identical across the rev range. Both filters offered can be oiled by the end user to prevent fine dust commonly found in hot climates from entering the intake tract. Testing was carried out using Performance Remap in Gloucester with their VTEC four wheel drive dyno. This was to ensure all our data was obtained with as accurate results as possible by an independent tuner. If required we can supply a replacement filter for this kit if required, please contact us.
