The cold air intake system034MotorsportReplaces the standard factory intake with a high-output, high-flow, one-piece P34 intake system. As a ram air intake, it draws cold, dense air directly from the grille. Meanwhile, the intake kit is fully sealed based on the stock air box meaning the intake air comes only from outside the engine bay - not the hot air from the engine bay which can affect unclosed intake designs. With the increased airflow of this system, you won't miss the sound of your dump valve opening as you release between gears. In addition, the carbon fiber design of the part helps maintain an ideal air temperature towards the intake throttle.

But what is the X34 cold air intake system from034Motorsport?
034Motorsport is proud to announce the all-carbon fiber X34 cold air intake system for 1.8 TSI 2.0 TSI EA888 Gen.3 MQB platform engines.
The engineers from034Motorsport have invested considerable effort in developing a complete OEM+ cold air intake solution for 1.8 TSI 2.0 TSI EA888 Gen.3 MQB platform engines, which delivers notable gains in power and torque over the box original air pump which is already very well designed. Throughout the development process, several designs were modeled, prototyped and tested, culminating in this elegantly designed carbon fiber cold air intake system.
The engineers034Motorsport began by identifying faults in the stock intake system to determine which components were restricting airflow to the turbocharger inlet. While the factory lower air box and fresh air duct to the center mount were more than adequate for increased power levels, the factory air filter, upper air box and air tube turbo intake were found to be too restrictive, even with the OEM turbocharger.
Mechanical engineers then scanned the factory engine bay and modeled a one-piece unit to replace the factory intake tube and upper airbox. By eliminating multiple couplers, transitions and irregular features in the stock upper airbox and intake tube, the engineering team at 034Motorsport was then able to significantly reduce turbulence in the intake tract and virtually eliminate the pressure drop in the intake system before the turbo inlet.
Multiple iterations were prototyped in plastic using the company's in-house FDM 3D printer.034Motorsport and carefully tested. Ultimately, the design required a fully enclosed unit to ensure cold air was routed to a massive 4" inlet at the air filter and a large diameter one-piece intake tube with smooth transitions up at the factory turbo inlet.
034Motorsport was able to finally focus on optimizing every aspect of the intake system across a wide range of variables and trade-offs. An essential element of a high flow performance intake is the ability of air to flow around and into the filter. If air cannot circulate freely around the filter, it will not be able to enter it. Many aftermarket kits fit an overly large filter in a housing that cannot accommodate its size, thereby choking the filter and reducing its overall flow rate. This often happens when a product is designed for one variable at the expense of others.034Motorsport has carried out extensive testing and refined its development of the intake design to allow maximum airflow surrounding the air filter, allowing optimal airflow to and through the filter. The end result is the right size filter in the right size filter housing, creating maximum airflow and performance with OEM level filtering, the ultimate goal of any intake system. Be wary of any intake that only boasts about the size of the air filter, without considering the detrimental effects of filter shrouding.
To ensure that the cold air intake system X34 for MQB platform draws in cool, dense air, the system is made entirely of carbon fiber and completely enclosed to prevent hot air from the engine compartment from entering the intake tract. By attaching to the factory lower air box, this design allows the enclosed high-flow cone filter to breathe fresh, cold air from the OEM inlet duct just before the radiator.
The carbon fiber cold air intake system034Motorsport houses a high-flow conical air filter with a massive 4" inlet and double-layered pleated cotton filtration media. This air filter design provides increased flow through an enlarged filtration surface area, while ensuring a superior filtration.
OEM+ fit and finish
034Motorsport has carefully selected the carbon fiber weave on the intake tube and upper airbox thermal cover to match the factory carbon fiber engine trim found in the engine bays of the Audi RS model. The cold air intake system X34 034Motorsport for MQB platform Audi and Volkswagen 1.8TSI and 2.0 TSI has been designed to fit like a factory part and mates directly to the stock turbo intake pipe and lower airbox to give a look OEM+.
Power and torque gains at the wheels verified by power bench
The engineering and development efforts of034MotorsportWere validated on multiple vehicles using our Mustang AWD dynamometer to ensure that the 034Motorsport Audi/Volkswagen MQB cold air intake system provided substantial increases in horsepower and torque on both stock and with improved tunes.
