Here is our direct intake kit from FORGE MOTORSPORT for the 1.0 TSI engine from 2022 which is found in a wide selection of vehicles from the VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat range. With the highly successful FMINDK30 and FMINDK39 intake kits for previous generation VAG 1.0 TSI vehicles, Forge Motorsport was heavily requested to develop an improved air intake system for the latest VAG powertrain.
As with all manufacturers in recent times, the need to make smaller displacement engines more powerful and efficient has been their top priority. To achieve these goals, OEM design engineers must maximize space as much as possible, which in turn creates a greater challenge for aftermarket manufacturers and tuners to improve what is already installed on the vehicle. However, that didn’t stop us at Forge Motorsport! Even with great expertise from past developments with previous small displacement VAG engines, this new powertrain required an extensive period of testing to ensure we produced a product that provided real improvements over the standard airbox.
The CAD designed, laser cut and precision bent heat shield is designed to form a barrier between the air intake duct and radiant heat from the engine. It also helps channel cold air to the air filter, to preserve low intake temperatures, which in turn creates more power. Finished with our black textured powder coating, this creates a product with OEM look and quality. This kit is offered with our Forge High Flow Pleated Synthetic Nanofiber Filtration Filter, which has been manufactured for optimal size and fit to the available space, providing superior flow and filtration with improved breathing for the turbocharged engine 1.0.
Alternatively, there is our soon to be available foam filter option which has been manufactured exclusively by Pipercross. During dyno testing, we tried several filter options and found that no filter excelled over the other, with results being nearly identical across the entire RPM range. Both filters offered can be oiled by the end user to prevent fine dust commonly found in hot climates from entering the intake tract. Testing was carried out using Performance Remap in Gloucester with their VTEC four-wheel drive dyno. This was to ensure that all of our data was obtained with as accurate results as possible by an independent tuner.
