CAT CAMS Camshaft for BMW S14 2.3 L 16V 4 cylinder engine code DOHC
Here are our camshafts from Cat Cams for BMW S14 2.3 L 16V 4 cylinder engine code DOHC
Description :
The Cat Cams camshaft will allow you to significantly increase the performance of your vehicle.
When a vehicle needs to receive extensive mechanical preparation to achieve decent results and, above all, a significant range of progression, work on the camshafts becomes inevitable.
When preparing the Cat Cams camshaft, two changes are observed: the valve lift and the opening angle.
Valve lift allows the opening length and angle to be changed, allowing less or more air to enter the combustion chamber.
You should know that more air entering therefore modifies the air/fuel mixture in the cylinders which increases the power at high revs.
Also, the greater the valve opening angle, the greater the air flow, which promotes the air/fuel mixture and therefore more power.
Therefore, for use in competition, leisure, circuit and other areas, the revs will be more pronounced, the character of your engine will be more aggressive and thus you will benefit from a better range of use which will become a real asset.
Without touching on the subject of driving pleasure which will increase your sensations tenfold.
- Cat Cams camshaft reference: 1300659/S / Opening 0.1mm, intake 292°, exhaust 279° / Opening 1.0mm, intake 251°, exhaust 243° / Max lift intake 12.45mm, exhaust 12mm / Lift at TDC intake 3.85mm, exhaust 3.25mm / Full opening intake 106°, exhaust 106°.
These camshafts can be used in the following engines (different valves are used, please contact Cat Cams if in doubt):- S14 (23 4 EA), 2302 cc, 195 hp- S14 (23 4 S2), 2302 cc, 215 hp- S14 (25 4 S1), 2467 cc, 238 hp. FOR COMPETITION ENTRIES ONLY. Please check the following information:- camshafts must run smoothly in the cylinder head, ensure free travel by machining where required- distance between valve seal and retainer at full lift must be at least 0.6 mm- minimum valve spring travel of 1.0 mm at full lift must be provided- distance between valve and piston 1.0 mm (preferably 1.5 mm). Check 5 to 15° before TDC on the exhaust and after TDC on the intake. These profiles require racing cam followers with a shim between the follower and the valve (shim under the follower). It is not possible to use these profiles on standard cam followers with a shim between the follower and the cam (shim over the follower). If necessary, machine the cylinder head and/or use solid shims to adjust the spring load. ONLY for use in competition engines with independent engine management (throttle position sensor) or carburetors
